Shqiponja and Rasim Plaku, originally from Albania, have been living in the UK since 1998. They have been fostering for two years.
“We have fostered young people who are asylum seekers, I understand them well as I have been in similar situation. I’m very proud of how quickly my foster son has learnt how to read and write English and has gained other new skills.
"You have to love children and have a good heart. You also have to really involve the children you care for in your family. I would also say to not be scared as you are helped a lot and feel very supported at Waltham Forest.”
