Foster Care Fortnight 2023

Join our Fostering Community

It is Foster Care Fortnight (15-28 May), the Fostering Network's national campaign to celebrate the work of foster carers and highlight the need for more foster families.  We have 120 Foster Carers and they are the unsung heroes of our borough. There are 341 children in care in Waltham Forest. We urgently need many more carers.

We would love for you to join our fostering community. You will need to have a spare bedroom in your home and be willing to dedicate the time and commitment needed to support a child.

To find out more please join our Fostering Information event on Thursday 25 May at 11am or complete a short enquiry form.

Mockingbird Support

Waltham Forest offers foster carers 24/7 support. This includes a wide range of training, a dedicated social worker, 'out of hours,' service support, WFFCA (Waltham Forest Foster Carer's Association), support groups and Mockingbird constellations.

The Mockingbird programme is based on the idea of an extended family. It results in improved support and outcomes for foster carers and young people. Watch this short film to hear from foster families about their experiences of being part of Mockingbird What is Mockingbird? We recently launched our third constellation.
