Foster Care Fortnight 2022

Join our Fostering Community

Foster Care Fortnight takes place from 9 to 22 May. The national campaign recognises the fantastic work that foster carers do and highlights the need for more carers. 9,265 foster families are needed across the UK. In Waltham Forest we need carers for children from all backgrounds but our greatest need is carers for teenagers, children with disabilities and mothers and babies.

Mockingbird

The Mockingbird programme is based on the idea of an extended family. It results in improved support and outcomes for foster carers and young people. Watch this short film to hear from foster families about their experiences of being part of Mockingbird What is Mockingbird?

Mohammud and Ilhaam are part of Waltham Forest's first Mockingbird Constellation;

"We have only been fostering for a year, it has been an incredible journey. We have made a difference in other children's lives and created positive change for them. We have a great support network (with the other foster carers in the constellation) and are always available for support."

Following the success of our first constellation, we are excited to launch our second Mockingbird constellation during Foster Care Fortnight. You are invited to attend our in person event where you can also speak to our recruitment team on Wednesday 18 May at Walthamstow Library. Please book your seat(s) here.
