CORE Training

Core training events are essential to your ongoing professional development.  It is expected that carer's complete Core training at least every three years, or more often if you feel that you require a refresher.

As of 2023 the following courses are considered as CORE:

  • Attachment and Loss
  • Contact (Family Time)
  • Child Protection and safeguarding
  • Health and Safety
  • First Aid
  • Recording and Reporting Skills
  • Safer Care and Allegations
  • WRAP (Prevent)

Carer's are also required to complete two Mandatory courses, just once.  These are:

  • Delegated Authority
  • Equality and Diversity

All carers must complete the TSDS, (Training, Support and Development Standards).  This is a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates your competence as carers.  More information available here.

  • Foster carers - within 12 months following approval.
  • Kinship/Connected carers - within 18 months following approval.

To access the courses contact the Training Coordinator who can provide you with the password once they have verified your identity.
